  • Prep Cook

    Responsibilities include //

    • Follow the prep list created by chefs to plan duties

    • Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible

    • Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking

    • Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.

    • Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc.

    • Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees etc.

    • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.

    • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly

    • Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines

    • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned

    • Proven experience as prep cook

    • Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen

    • Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils

    • A team player with good communication skills

    • Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure

    • Very good physical condition and endurance

    • High school diploma or equivalent is desirable; training from a culinary school will be an asset.

    As a successful Barista, you demonstrate exemplary time management and leadership skills, while ensuring that the F&B team carries out all duties efficiently and effectively. Ultimately, an exceptional Barista will always provide an excellent guest experience, be self-directed, and consistently maintain Nest’s high standards and expectations.

    In this role you will carry out the following at Nest:

    Service Requirements //

    • Educate our guests on the superior quality of Nest’s products and services

    • Sells and serves products to guests in a courteous and friendly manner;

    • Continues to learn, educate herself, and attend team educational meetings around Nest’s ingredients, dishes, and programs;

    • Safely handles all hot and cold drinks during drink preparation;

    • Maintains the highest quality, consistent product standards, and hold her teammates accountable to the same standards;

    • Follows all Nest drink recipes and procedures;

    Service Responsibilities //

    • Embodies and employs Nest’s core values first and foremost;

    • Greets all guests with fast, friendly, personalized service and develops a rapport with our community by learning their names, favorite drinks and food items;

    • Verbally receives and calls back customer orders in a friendly manner;

    • Describing menu items and suggesting products to customers

    • Reaching sales goals and incentives

    • Monitor quality control, label and stock grab & go items

    • Receiving deliveries and storing deliveries where they belong

    • Assisting with service flow in front and back of house

    • Communicate with all departments and acknowledges all Slack notifications

    • Responds proactively to prevent guest service situations and dissatisfaction

    • Answers phone in a courteous and friendly manner including, but not limited to, giving store greeting, directions to store location, and receiving and filling customer orders;

    • Answers guest questions regarding products and programs;

Shift working can work extremely well for those who have personal and family commitments, while providing a career that enables you to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

    The starting compensation for this position is $27- $30 per hour including tips, to be paid on a weekly basis by check. You will also be eligible for any additional bonus, or any other variable compensation program(s), that Nurture may implement in the future.
